The L2 was developed by LUMIN as a high-quality central storage and network solution for a serious streaming audio system. It combines a dedicated music server with an integrated audio-phile-grade Gigabit network switch, making it an ideal partner for a LUMIN network player, but thanks to UPnP/OpenHome support it can also be used perfectly within other compatible streaming solutions.
The use is particularly easy. Music can be copied to the L2 via USB or directly over the network, after which the integrated LUMIN server software automatically makes the music available within the network. This does not require complex NAS configurations or additional server software.
This copy comes with an extensive music collection of about 2 TB , making a very spacious music library available immediately.*
An important advantage of the L2 is the built-in 4-port audiophile-grade network switch. At the rear are two Gigabit RJ45 connections and two SFP ports for optical network connections. With the latter, a complete galvanic separation between the audio system and the rest of the home network can be achieved, so that electrical network noise no longer has a direct way to the connected audio equipment.
Much attention has also been paid to the construction. The L2 features a heavy-duty, shielded CNC-aluminium chassis and an internal low-noise power supply that is physically shielded from the other electronics. Moreover, the system works completely silently and without fans, an important advantage when the server is in the same room as the audio installation.
The L2 supports both PCM and DSD music files, including FLAC, ALAC, WAV, AIFF, DSF and DIFF. Thanks to SMB support, the music library can be easily managed and completed over the network.
The combination of music server, storage and high-quality network switch makes the LUMIN L2 a particularly elegant solution for those who want to centrally accommodate their own music collection without having to use a conventional computer or NAS in the audio chain.
