Techdas Airforce V premium

The TechDAS Air Force V Premium is proof that a turntable does not need to be large to deliver absolute top-class performance. Developed by Hideaki Nishikawa, Micro Seiki's former chief engineer, the Air Force V Premium brings together virtually all of the core technologies of the legendary Air Force series in a surprisingly compact and elegant design.

 

The focus is on the two technologies that made TechDAS famous worldwide: the air bearing and vacuum clamping system. The plateau literally floats on an extremely thin air cushion, making mechanical contact and bearing friction almost completely disappear. At the same time, the plate is pulled perfectly against the plateau via a controlled vacuum system, thus minimising deformations by wavy plates and ensuring optimum scanning.

 

The Premium version distinguishes itself from the original Air Force V by a significantly improved chassis. Where the original model used a composite construction, the Premium is manufactured from solid CNC-milled aluminium. This heavier and stiffer construction results in an even lower noise floor, more dynamic contrast and an impressive rest in the musical view.

 

What is immediately striking during listening is the obviousness with which music is presented. The Air Force V Premium combines exceptional tranquility with an almost unprecedented amount of detail and spatial information. Instruments get a natural place in space, voices sound tangible and dynamic contrasts are displayed without any mechanical signature.

 

Unlike many turntables that show their character, the TechDAS seems to disappear from the signal path. What remains is music in its purest form, supported by an impressively stable foundation and a remarkably low noise floor.

 

The Air Force V Premium also offers the possibility to assemble up to four tone arms, allowing it to grow along with its owner's ambitions. This makes it not only a final destination for the analogue lover, but also a platform that can remain at the heart of a reference system for years.
