Rega Aethos

The Rega Aethos is a high-quality fully analog integrated amplifier and occupies a special position within Rega's program. Developed for the music lover who is looking for a powerful, fast and uncomplicated amplifier, without DAC, streaming module or other digital functions that have nothing to do with the actual reinforcement.

 

With a power of 125 watts per channel at 8 ohm and no less than 156 watts of 6 ohm, the Aethos has considerably more reserves than its relatively subdued appearance suggests. The final stage is built around four 16A Sanken output transistors per channel and is powered by a generously measured linear power supply with a specially manufactured toroidal transformer for Rega.

 

In particular, Rega has taken over a lot of technology from the Osiris and Elicit-R reference models for the Aethos. The preamplifier works completely discreetly and uses a Class A circuit. The volume control is also very special, with an Alps potentiometer that works with the amplifier circuit to optimize load and channel equality.

 

The Aethos was deliberately kept purely analog. At the rear are five line level inputs, a tape output and a pre-out. A built-in phono input is missing, allowing you to select an external phototrap that fits the level of the turntable used and the element.

 

Also headphone listeners have been thought of. The Aethos has a high-quality headphone output which is switched via relay, so that this circuit stays completely off the signal road when not used.

 

Soundfully, the Aethos is a real Rega: rhythmically strong, fast and dynamic, with an open middle area and a lot of timing. At the same time, thanks to its strong power supply and powerful final stage, he has clearly more authority and control than the smaller integrated amplifiers of the brand. The result is an amplifier that presents music energetic and engaged without losing sight of its refinement.
