Traded in and now available: an Accuphase DP-770 Precision MDSD SA-CD/CD player in truly like-new condition. The DP-770 ranks amongst the very best of Accuphase’s integrated digital players. It is not only a high-quality SACD and CD player, but also a particularly high-performance D/A converter for external digital sources. Accuphase has incorporated much of the technology from the separate DP-1000/DC-1000 reference combination into the DP-770. The extremely rigid, low-profile SA-CD/CD drive mechanism utilises an outer-rotor brushless DC motor and has been developed to read discs as quietly and accurately as possible. 8MDSD and 8MDS++ For digital conversion, Accuphase uses an ESS ES9028PRO, but the implementation is at least as important as the DAC chip itself. Accuphase utilises no fewer than eight parallel converter circuits. For DSD, conversion takes place according to the proprietary 8MDSD principle, whilst PCM is processed via 8MDS++. In addition, ANCC is employed to further reduce noise and distortion. The analogue output sections for RCA and XLR are completely separate from one another. This ensures that a device connected to one output cannot affect the signal from the other output. Also a high-quality standalone DAC The DP-770 is much more than just a disc player. Via USB, it accepts PCM up to 32-bit/384 kHz and DSD up to 11.2 MHz, whilst HS-LINK, coaxial and optical connections are also available. This makes it ideally suited to form the digital heart of a complete system. Typical of Accuphase is the immense attention paid to mechanical construction, power supply and finish. With its classic champagne-coloured front panel, wooden side panels and a weight of no less than 28.5 kg, the DP-770 therefore feels more like a reference component than a traditional CD player.
