On Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 October, NH Koningshof will once again be transformed into a vast audio paradise, with dozens of listening rooms and over 300 brands represented. From speakers and amplifiers to analogue sources, streaming, DACs, cabling and accessories: virtually everything that makes our hobby so wonderful can be found there.
Listen, discover and, above all, find inspiration
For me, a trade fair like the Dutch Audio Event is, above all, a wonderful opportunity to look – and listen – beyond my own listening room once again.
Which new products stand out? Which combinations really impress musically? Are there any interesting new brands or developments? And perhaps even more importantly: which systems ensure that, after a few minutes, you’re no longer preoccupied with the equipment, but are simply listening to the music?
Because ultimately, that’s what it’s all about for me. Equipment is marvellous, technology is fascinating, but in the end it’s merely a means to an end. When an audio system draws you into the recording and makes you forget for a moment what you’re looking at, that’s when it gets interesting.
Behind the scenes too
As well as listening, the Dutch Audio Event is, of course, the place to be to speak to manufacturers, importers, fellow dealers and other music lovers.
What’s more, there’s plenty going on at Highender Audio at the moment. We continue to look for exceptional products and brands that fit in with our way of working: we don’t add equipment simply because there’s a spare slot on the brands page, but only when something genuinely enhances both the listening experience and our product range.
I’m therefore very curious to see what we’ll come across this weekend.
Shall I see you in Veldhoven?
Will you be at the Dutch Audio Event on Saturday or Sunday and happen to bump into me? Please do come and say hello. It’s always nice to meet new people, swap experiences and, of course, talk about music and great audio.
After the weekend, I’ll of course be reporting on Highender.nl about what caught my eye. Not necessarily a list of the biggest, most expensive or most spectacular systems, but mainly the products and demonstrations that made a musical impression.
